What is Control System?
A system is basically a group of things that come together for a common purpose. In terms of electrical engineering, a system is a group of elements or components that are connected in a sequence, so that they may perform a specific function.
A control system is a specific type of system that manages commands, directs or regulates the behavior of other devices or systems. Here, the output and inputs are interrelated; they are connected in such a way so that the output quantity or variable is controlled by input quantity or variable. In a control system, the output quantity is called controlled variable or response, while the input quantity is called command signal or excitation.
