What are different types of Control Systems?

A control system is a specific type of system that manages commands, directs or regulates the behavior of other devices or systems. Here, the output and inputs are interrelated. Here, they are connected in such a way so that the output quantity or variable is controlled by input quantity or variable. There are two main types of control systems:

1. Open loop Control System: The open loop control system is one in which the output process has no effect on the control action. Here, the output quality is independent of the input quality.

2. Closed Loop Control Systems: In the closed loop control system, the control action from the controller is dependent on the desired and actual process output values. Here, the feedback is provided from the Output quantity to the input quantity for the correction so as to maintain the desired output of the system.
