What is an Android Manifest File?

The Android manifest file contains all the important information about the application that is needed by the Android system. It contains the information of package, components of the application like activities, services, information about the API that the application will use, etc. It also includes information about the sets of permissions that the app needs from its users. This information is important for the functionality of the app and is necessary to be passed on by the developers to the Android system. The manifest file does that job. The manifest file is required by all android applications.
